U18 Ski Program at Mountain Creek
For Athletes Ages 16-17
The U18 program is where dedicated ski racers push toward their highest competitive potential. Athletes at this level are racing against some of the best juniors in the region and nation, with an eye toward FIS points, collegiate opportunities, and long-term advancement in the sport. Training combines technical refinement, tactical mastery, and serious conditioning — on and off the snow.
The U16 program is designed to push athletes to their highest potential — giving them the tools, skills, and mindset to succeed at the top levels of ski racing.
What ATHLETES Learn
- Elite Technical Skills – Refining efficiency, power, and precision at top speed; minimizing mistakes; skiing the cleanest possible line.
- High-Level Race Training – Intensive focus on Slalom (SL), Giant Slalom (GS), and Super-G (SG), with exposure to Downhill (DH) where available.
- Tactical Mastery – Advanced line choice, terrain management, split-second decision-making, and race-day adaptability.
- Year-Round Conditioning – Strength training, plyometrics, endurance, and recovery routines to match the demands of elite competition.
- Professional Athlete Habits – Mental toughness, nutrition, sleep, equipment maintenance, and travel readiness.
Program Goals
- Prepare athletes for success in regional, national, and FIS-level competition.
- Strengthen consistency and competitiveness in SL, GS, and SG racing.
- Build the discipline and independence required for collegiate or professional racing.
- Foster leadership, resilience, and sportsmanship both on and off the hill.
- Serve as the final development stage before U21/FIS or collegiate ski racing.
Parent Info
- Age Group: 16–17 years old (expert skiers committed to high-level racing).
- Training: Multiple weekly on-snow sessions plus year-round off-snow conditioning; summer camps and glacier training opportunities may be included.
- Competition: Full regional/national race schedule with FIS races introduced; higher travel and overnight commitments expected.
- Commitment: Families should anticipate significant time and financial investment — equipment, tuning, travel, and training volume all increase.
- Gear:
Full race quiver (SL, GS, SG, DH as needed), race boots, FIS-approved helmet, back protector, speed suit, pole/shin guards, tuning kit, and fitness equipment.
