U10 Ski Program at Mountain Creek

For Kids Ages 8-9

The U10 program takes young skiers to the next level. Building on the basics from U8, this stage focuses on refining technique, gaining confidence at higher speeds, and developing the fundamentals of alpine racing.



The U10 program helps kids grow from strong skiers into true junior racers, ready to compete with confidence.

What Kids Learn


  • Advanced Ski Skills – Strong parallel skiing, edge control, carving with precision, and dynamic turns at speed.
  • Race Fundamentals – Running slalom and giant slalom courses, practicing starts, timing, and race tactics.
  • Terrain Mastery – Comfort on steeper pitches, variable snow, and more challenging runs across the mountain.
  • Sportsmanship & Teamwork – Training as part of a team, supporting peers, and developing race-day focus.

Program Goals


  • Strengthen technical skills for long-term ski racing success.
  • Introduce structured training in slalom (SL) and giant slalom (GS).
  • Teach race strategies: line choice, inspection, and adapting to different courses.
  • Build fitness, discipline, and confidence while keeping skiing fun.
  • Prepare athletes for U12 racing, where training intensity and competition increase.

Parent Info


  • Age Group: 8–9 years old (comfortable on all intermediate and most advanced terrain).
  • Training: Regular weekly sessions plus optional race events within NJ and regional circuits.
  • Focus: A balance of drills, gate training, and free skiing to keep it fun while building strong habits.
  • Gear: Properly sized SL/GS skis, boots, helmet (with FIS-approved hard ears recommended), and race protective gear.
